Dr. Wynns is experienced in individual, couples, family, group and play therapy. In addition, she has extensive experience in conducting psychoeducational evaluations across the academic spectrum, to include assessments for LD (Learning Disabilities) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) as well as gifted children and adolescents. Her dissertation and published research about the effects of marital conflict on children and teenagers has cemented her special interest in working with children and adolescents dealing with divorce or marital conflict in the family. Prior to working in private practice in Cary, NC, Dr. Wynns worked at UNC's Frank Porter Graham Child Development Center, a child and family services center, ADHD specialty clinic, in-patient adolescent unit, and an Autism group home. Dr. Wynns has led a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, speech therapists, and occupational therapists conducting evaluations of preschool children for NC Wake County Public Schools (WCPSS).  She has experience working with children and adolescents with a variety of common teen and childhood issues such as dealing with divorce, behavior problems, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Bipolar Disorder, social problems, Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD), depression, anxiety and phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and family and school difficulties. She runs a social skills group on a regular basis for children who have difficulty making and keeping friends, connecting to peer groups, or handling anger/frustration appropriately.  Her experience extends to working with parents and families as well.  She also works with parents of preschoolers and toddlers in helping them deal with sleep and eating problems, behavior problems, dealing with fears, and effective discipline techniques.
